Forodhani GardenThe Forodhani Gardens (also known as Jubilee Gardens and more recently as Forodhani Park) is are a small park of the historical city of Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania. The gardens are located along the main seawalk of Stone Town, just in front of the most famous buildings of Stone Town, i.e., the House of Wonders and the Old Fort.
The Gardens are especially crowded after sunset, when tourists and local alike gather in a popular food street market in the main square, to have dinner eating Swahili and Zanzibari cuisine delicacies such as grilled seafood, samosas, cassava, fresh fruits, spiced chai (tea), ice cream and the famous Urojo Mix, Swharma and Zanzibar Pizza. |

Local DishesThere are so many local spots, that serve the traditional Zanzibari staples. Some of the more famous spots that have been discovered by more than locals, for their good food and friendly prices in Stone Town include Passing Show, which is popular for their pilau and biriani dishes, Bahari Restaurant across from Mercury's which has great affordable samosa's and banana splits, Lukman's has great locally made juices, ala carte selections and cake bites. Have your guide take you to a mess hall for the real local food experience. The Police Mess and the CCM Mess Hall are know to have live music and serve the best local plates in town for a great price. Every town has a local spot people go to eat. You can normally get spiced tea, locally made juices, chapati, spiced rice, seafood dishes, and chips. A good suggestion is to ask the taxi driver where they go to eat while waiting for customers. That is part of the fun of discovering Zanzibar.
